I met Shabaz Ahmed about 17 years ago when he was in his early 30s but looked about 15 years older.
He was probably overworked, definitely overweight, sporting a sallow complexion, and was experiencing the general unwellness that so many in the West suffer through as their “normal” state of (ill) health.
Fast forward 17 years and he is going on 50, but looks like he’s in his early 30s, if not younger. See for yourself in my recent interview with him:
During his 15+ year journey he moved halfway around the world, changed everything about his lifestyle, made a spiritual journey of self discovery, learned everything he could about medicine, healed himself, became authorized in the traditional sciences of Ayurveda, became a Chi Kung master, an adept at triggering deep detox, using herbal remedies, neural retraining, and multiple other modalities, and ultimately helped hundreds of people around the world reverse severe chronic diseases, particularly end-stage cancers.
But the most telling thing I can say about him is that I trusted no one else to help guide my own parents through their own health challenges. I can’t say much about that, but the results have been miraculous and go beyond just physical healing.
In another simpler episode from a couple weeks ago, my 5 year old daughter was still having persistent moderate diarrhea a couple weeks after having caught the stomach bug that was going around.
As anyone who knows me well can attest, I hate to give antibiotics, prefering to treat things naturally if they don’t just resolve on their own (see the intro to my ebook on the Dpak prescription antibiotic kit, where I try as best I can to make the point that you almost never need an antibiotic for anything).
I knew triphala was often very helpful for these things, but asked his advice since my primary experience in more natural healthcare approaches is limited to COVID and Vax injuries.
He agreed with the triphala but also recommended a water fast, among a couple other things, and after 12 hours she was back to normal (she only took a sip of the recommended triphala/tumeric in warm water, so the water fast, though certainly a bit difficult for a 5 year old, really seemed to do the trick).
I also know other conventional medical doctors who have trusted him with their own health as well as that of their toughest patients, closest friends and most beloved family members.
Over the last few years my own understanding of the root causes of disease has evolved quite a bit, and much of that evolution has been influenced by just a handful of the briefest of interactions with Hakim Shabaz, including status reports on various patients and a couple small informational articles he’s had me review.
For personal reasons he’s been flying under the radar for years now, purposely avoiding the many interview requests he gets from broadcasters who’ve heard of one or another of his remarkable success stories.
But recently things shifted for him and he decided it was time to widen the circle just slightly and do an interview for my audience, and after that to expand his very limited availability to help serve more patients in the West who are in dire need of a more comprehensive approach, specifically my own patients via: mygotodoc.com/hakim.
The first interview was plagued by connectivity issues on my end, and poor audio quality on his end, but it was still a consciousness expanding experience for me and others, as almost every conversation I’ve ever had with him is (the second interview linked above and here, summarizes the first and expands on it).
In particular he opened up more about his deep understanding of the various facets of the human being that impact their health.
One of the key things that sets him apart from other practitioners of “holistic medicine” is that he has direct experience of all these unique aspects of the human body/mind/soul and has been able to elicit an experience of these various levels in many of his patients who were open and ready for that.
(Another distinguishing feature that I already mentioned but which bears repeating here since it’s so important: he walks the wall, which is obvious from his very appearance of vibrant good health, contrasting strongly with the many unhealthy appearing “doctors” and healers that abound in the modern world.)
So he described 7 different aspects of being, that he himself addresses in order to attain the deepest levels of personal healing and healing for his patients.
The first is the physical self, which is where mainstream medicine begins and ends.
The second is the energy body, which is where much of alternative medicine ends.
In addition to those are the planning mind, the emotional being with its conscious and subconscious desires, the motivating self, the philosophical self, and the spiritual self.
Beyond that is an 8th realm that he declined to elucidate, but given his predilections is likely the Divine Will.
As for the other realms:
The spiritual self is what experiences a direct connection to a Higher Power.
The philosophical self believes certain things about the nature of reality that in part stem from the sense of a spiritual connection, and which then further give birth to desires, motivation, plans, emotions and actions, both energetic and physical.
These levels can be very tricky and require someone steeped in knowledge to help someone who is ill properly decipher them and maneuver through their healing.
For example many people profess to believe certain things, yet their actions belie their claims.
Without necessarily applying a value judgment, just think of the person who “believes” in God, Heaven and Hell, and the immortal soul, yet persists in what they also “believe” are sins.
Some of these are out and out hypocrites, but many of them are somewhere on the spectrum of belief. They may feel very guilty about their sins, but do nothing different, or they may struggle mightily to overcome them, or they believe so strongly in the inherent harm of “sins” that they easily avoid them.
The point is that deep-seated beliefs about the nature of reality and health can deeply impact your experience of reality and your state of health and many of those deep-seated beliefs may be different than what you yourself think you believe.
If these turn out to be somehow limiting beliefs they will definitely hold you back from experiencing the deepest levels of healing.
Our deep underlying beliefs also affect function and dysfunction on other levels, e.g. they give rise to desires in the heart. Some people want fame and fortune, and others just want to be happy, or experience pleasure. Some want to change the world for the better and others want the world to change for them.
Some again are confused, saying and thinking they want one thing, but doing something else.
Some say they want health, but really want a solution to another more vexing problem (e.g. a bad job/marriage), and that “solution” created in a sense by their own subconscious is their disease itself.
Of course it can be much more complicated than that and much more difficult to disentangle oft-times conflicting beliefs and desires.
To continue elucidating the different levels of being: in Hakim Shabaz’s formulation the motivating self acts as a go between for the other aspects of being. So it may help select from amongst various desires for the planning mind to work on.
The energetic self includes such mundane facts as the bioelectricity we see on the EKG, the mitochondrial electron transport chain, as well as all the proven energy pathways mapped out by ancient medical systems.
The physical self includes all our atoms and molecules.
Each of these aspects or layers of being are affected by each other and through interactions with the outside world.
Each level also has its own peculiar “toxins” and “nutrients”.
The root cause(s) of a problem may originate from a particular plane, and permeate through the others.
Treating a problem in any plane, will help treat it in every plane, but some problems may require focused treatment at specific levels in order to eliminate them.
Regardless of the true nature of these aspects of being, each of these layers of a person are self-evident, experiential realities, excepting perhaps the last in some die-hard materialists.
For example: you obviously have a physical body; you can feel energized or fatigued and everyone has experienced static electricity; you have emotions and desires; you have structured thoughts and plans; you feel motivated or not; you believe certain things and not others; you feel spiritually connected to something greater than yourself, or you don’t.
Each of these levels has a healthy and unhealthy state.
Some of them often go hand in hand, but not necessarily.
Someone may feel deeply saddened or depressed, but have plenty of motivation for most things in life, whereas someone else may feel depressed and entirely lack the motivation to do anything.
The way this applies to health can get complicated, but the key to unraveling the Gordian knot is to realize that there is deep meaning in everything that happens.
Each level will try to express the same message, which is essentially the message of any and all pain/discomfort/dis-ease: stop doing what is causing the pain.
A metaphor may illustrate this: if you reach out towards a fire your hand gets hot and eventually starts to burn. If you leave your hand there it will eventually hurt more and more until it is irrevocably damaged by the heat.
The message is basically: remove your hand from that place. Or perhaps: put out the fire.
The approach of modern medicine is not only to leave your hand there, but to actually stoke the fire.
Since leaving your hand there is so uncomfortable, you have to somehow numb it up, which is what modern medicine does best.
Unfortunately the numbing agents are like fuel for the fire. They themselves become a new negative environmental factor feeding illness - though sometimes a different illness (i.e. via “side” effects). And in another sense as well (where the metaphor breaks down): medications for symptoms usually lead to worsening of the symptoms themselves, because your body tries to ignore the medication and make the signal louder, eg by down-regulating the chemical receptors the medication binds to. This means the symptoms get harder and harder to control over time.
But the main problem with the approach is that the fire itself tends to spread over time, as the toxic load of living accumulates without being appropriately discarded.
Unfortunately almost all modern approaches to healing skip the real root causes and just address the effects. They leave your hand over the fire, while applying a healing salve, without ever putting out the fire itself.
Removing the source of harm is far more important than attaining any benefit and this is what the real healer understands and prioritizes.
Some people think they are addressing the root causes but they are not, or at least not all of them if they limit themselves to interventions at only one level of being.
Others think they are healing themselves naturally because they are using supplements or extreme physical interventions like excessive fasting or exercise instead of medications, but they are just using the same fundamentally flawed approach rather then going deep to the real reasons.
Bandaid solutions that don’t address the source will always cause festering of the underlying wound.
If you truly want a real solution, skip wandering in the desert of modern medicine for 40 years and just go straight to a real healer.

Atif R Khan - Managing Director, Ethica Institute
“Eight years ago I was diagnosed with chronic sinusitus …
“I consulted three naturopathic doctors and five allopathic doctors, trying everything to avoid surgery and regain my sense of smell ... My diet was already clean and overall fitness level acceptable, so I focused on natural remedies rather than the harmful antibiotics often prescribed. All told, I tried a netipot with saline rinses every night (1 year); Maffetone ketogenic diets (twice); elimination diets separately for dairy (40 days), gluten (40 days), and wheat (40 days); allergy testing; natural plant extracts; and homeopathy.
“Last year I turned to Hakim Shabaz.
“At first I noticed nothing, but then weeks into the remedy I began to breathe normally and smell foods. My nose went from 90% blockage to 10% blockage over the course of time.
“… Elevated lipids declined to the lowest level in years, skin cleared, fat burning improved, and energy levels increased.
“While quick-fix conventional medicine only relocates chronic problems, Hakim Shabaz … eliminates them.”
M Majali - father of an ex-autistic child
“My son encountered behavioral challenges, displaying traits associated with ADHD and autism. He faced difficulties with toilet training and exhibited highly challenging behaviors … we consulted Dr. Shahbaz, who advised a strict dietary regimen, therapies and additional supplementation. Remarkably, the implementation of this new regimen led to noticeable improvements. Within a month, my son achieved toilet training, and his behavioral issues began to diminish. After four months of following the regimen, his speech development showed significant progress. Currently, he continues his therapies alongside the prescribed diet and regimen, and I'm thrilled to report that my son has made remarkable strides in closing the developmental gap.”

Dr. Shabaz isn't just a doctor; he's a true healer who changed my life.”
PS.
The full promise of vibrant health is not just physical, it means being healthy at every level of your being. In fact it means addressing the very meaning of your existence: God created you to know Him by a continuous process of self improvement and realization.
Many of us have stalled out on our real journey through life because we've learned to cover up the various discomfiting messages we receive throughout the days, months and years.
Once we tackle these head on and learn to change ourselves to actually deal with them as they are meant to be dealt with, we will grow out of our current set of "problems" into a new, more subtle set, and this process is never ending because the Creator is Infinite and death is just another beginning.
But whether or not you believe all that, you can still deeply heal by going to someone who really understands the true nature of health and illness that goes far beyond the mere words and ideas to the practical matters of real recovery.
Thank you Dr. Haider , I couldn’t agree more … sincerely, thank u 😊
I recommend fasting from a cell biology perspective, https://danielnagase.substack.com/p/2023-year-in-review but adding the spiritual / energy aspect to it, especially with the rebuilding phase where the patterns of energy exchange between cells also gets renewed can possibly provide benefits beyond molecular biology comprehension.
