There are alternatives to standard root canals now. I made my husband consider alternatives when he was told he needed one. We went with the “Gentle Wave” procedure which is similar but irrigates the root to destroy the bacteria at the root to save it. So far so good.

How does the Gentle Wave irrigation process keep bacteria (at root) from entering blood stream?
Not sure on the whole process but I would think it would also be pulling the irrigation out at the same time. You’d have to look it up.
