Farmers have known this intuitively for a very long time. You can’t change a 4-legged livestock animal’s feed overnight. It will cause bloat and make it sick. The animal doesn’t have the enzymes in place to process the new or richer food. But, if you slowly introduce new feed over a week or two, their body adjusts and creates the enzymes to tolerate that new feed. And they’re just fine! Farmers also know that colostrum at birth is vital for the longterm health and vitality of a newborn mammal.

A lot of microbes are just biding their time in there, for when conditions are right for them to be called out of hibernation, and you're right it takes just a little bit of time for them to ramp up their numbers in response to a new environment/dietary input. The more you realize about the way the bodies works the more amazing it is.

Yes! It’s a beautiful thing. I’m curious though why it is that human gut biomes seem to be so distressed these days. Is it lack of an initial biome load at birth, vaccine injury to the gut, glyphosate and pesticides in the diet, stress, something else or a combination of that and all the above. The Greeks really did have it right with their theories that health starts in the gut. However I do agree with you that the gut can regenerate itself without stool transplants and fancy probiotics. Don’t know if you are aware of the work of Christopher Exley (@drchristopherexley). I’m sure you are as you are plugged into all important threads these days, it seems. His works focuses on aluminium toxicity and detox from it with silicic acid. In one of his posts, he makes an interesting comment on what aluminum does to mucous in the body and then makes a correlation to gut mucous possibly being impacted by aluminum toxicity. Something I want to explore further….

I would love to hear your thoughts, and Mr Shaboz's thoughts on chlorella and spirulina as balanced food sources for vitamins, minerals and enzymes. I've read that spirulina has the inactive form of B12 that could cancel out chlorella's active B12.

I've wondered if that is true, or a company's marketing

I miss my old big cans of Brewer's Yeast from 40 years ago for my B's!

Also, my mother, as a girl, was a patient at the Price Pottenger Clinic and raised us on Cod Liver oil in the winters for Vit A & D. She always said that most people are lacking in real Vitamin A (not beta carotene) for mucosal health and immunity. I don't know if Cod Liver oil (Green Pastures) has enough Vit D for us living in Alaska in the winter (?)

I've never been to an allopathic doctor, and raised 4 children who also never had need of a doctor - Dr Haider is my first "doctor"!

Recently, I found myself feeling “off”. Dizzy spells, extreme fatigue, joint point. My blood work came back normal. I’m 51 years old. I’m thin. Healthy. And I eat well. I had been eating very low carb but decided to tweak my diet a bit and introduce more carbs. But I also suspected I may be over-supplementing. But I also noticed that I tended to feel worse after taking my daily vitamins. So I completely quit taking all vitamins — all supplements and probiotics. And I was taking quite few! I decided I would get off everything for awhile and gradually re-introduce some one-by-one to see which may be causing the problems. I have felt great since doing this. I now only take B12 and vitamin E. I have not been able to tolerate anything else. As I’ve tried to reintroduce others I have found Im unable to do so. The vitamin D causes dizziness. The vitamin K makes me feel totally off. And the magnesium makes me so tired. I couldn’t tolerate the Omega 3 either. This week I’ll try to add in CO Q-10. It was after I did this supplement detox, Dr Haider put out these articles about the dangers of over-supplementing which I greatly appreciated, because I thought I was crazy to think the vitamins were the problem. But Dr Haider has confirmed my suspicions with what seems like a pretty sound medical explanation.

There is also a case to made for fermented foods when it comes to adequate vitamins AND a balanced gut biome. I have been making my own yogurt, kefir, kraut and kombucha for several months now (anything in the store is quite literally useless compared to what you can make yourself). I started doing this for my thyroid health, but the payoff in all areas of my health has been amazing. It might be a better gut biome or better thyroid function, either way it’s amazing. Plus, I’ve been able to drop all the supplements bc the fermented foods are loaded with nutrients. If anyone is interested, may I suggest aculturedfoodlife.com. (P.s….I’m in the process of reducing my Levothyroxin right now.)

You are the bomb Dr Haider! Thanks so much for this very informative info! So appreciate your deep dive for us! The human body is miraculous, mysterious and natural…designed to try to find balance on its own! We can get “blocked” by toxins, our thoughts (eg trauma/stress), or megadoses of vitamins that are touted as “therapeutic” and sadly most of this is self-inflicted or based on bad advice that may not be intentional and sometimes intentional. I feel safer knowing there are doctors like you looking out for us.

I take a B Complex capsule - how much is toxic? I've never had any issues I'm aware of.

It can start with small symptoms like muscle twitching, trouble sleeping, tingling and numbness, headaches. Just random symptoms until you have an event, possibly from dehydration, like using antibiotics or steroids, or a viral infection, then BOOM. Huge downward spiral into horrible symptoms that can last for years. The b6 is usually stored into the muscle but if muscle capacity is full, it stores in the nerves and then destroys them. I got toxic on small amounts. 10mg of p5p. Australia is labeling anything over 15mg as possibly causing peripheral neuropathy. I personally will never use a b complex again.

Love your content! I do want to caution that b6 is neurotoxic in many people, I experienced it (it’s the most horrific neurological destruction, that causes unexplainable suffering). I’m finding it’s going undiagnosed in many people now bc b6 is in so many products and practitioners are unaware this happens. There’s definitely an issue with absorption and we know everyone pretty much has leaky gut now, so we’re all at risk. I took b6 for many years until BOOM, massive symptoms. We get a ton of b6 In foods, so supplementation should be limited and followed by a physician, who can monitor blood, if someone is deficient.
